Become a volunteer of Wolverhampton LGBT+ charity
Wolverhampton LGBT+ is a network of organisations, businesses, community groups and individuals, who have come together to support and improve local services to the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and those questioning (LGBT+) community in the Black Country.
As a volunteer of Wolverhampton LGBT+ you will be passionate about the celebration of the LGBT+ community and about promoting equality and diversity. You will also have a keen interest in LGBT+ issues, with a desire to improve services for people living, working and visiting the City of Wolverhampton.
As a volunteer you will have access to knowledge and expertise from a range of organisations, all working towards a common goal.
Wolverhampton LGBT+ agrees to support all volunteers by:
- Being inclusive in everything that we do, deliver and promote
- Promoting LGBT+ services and events, or services and events that are likely to be of benefit to the local LGBT+ community.
- Offering free training in a number of relevant subjects.
- Offering transferrable skills to be documented on a C.V.
- Encouraging those with a protected characteristic to engage in events, activities and discussions with others who do not share the same protected characteristic.
- Keep you up to date with developments within the charity.
- Paying travel expenses and any other pre-agreed costs in association with undertaking role of volunteer.
Declaration
As a volunteer of Wolverhampton LGBT+, you agree to:
- Have an enhanced DBS check undertaken.
- Be approachable, reliable and willing to help.
- Have an understanding of the needs of LGBT+ people.
- Attend training if relevant to a specific activity being undertaken.
- Act in a manner consistent with our goal of improving “the health, wellbeing, inclusion and equality of LGBT+ people.”
- Respect the views and suggestions of other staff, paid or voluntary, and to act in a professional manner.
- Treat people with dignity and respect in every setting.
- Cause no harm by way of words or actions.
- Consider words/actions/language which may cause offense to the LGBT+ community and avoid at all costs.
- Actively challenge actions/language which may cause offense to members of the LGBT+ community if safe to do so.
- Not engaging in any illegal activity.
- Not bringing the reputation of WLGBT+ charity into disrepute by association.
- Not tarnish our reputation of by using our name or logo in a negative way, including activities on social media.
- Not forward/share emails, information or minutes from WLGBT+ to others unless given express permission to do so.

Emails / referrals made between 20th-26th September will be responded to 27th onwards.

The personal information Wolverhampton LGBT+ collects from you is stored on a secure database and will not be shared with any other third parties nor will we sell your information.
As a responsible organisation, Wolverhampton LGBT+ values the trust you place in us when you share your personal data and we are committed to protecting the privacy of members. It is our promise to you that we will be open and honest about how we use the information you’ve entrusted us with and how we recognise the importance of treating your data with care.
