Support the Future of Wolverhampton LGBT+
Wolverhampton LGBT+ (WLGBT+) has been serving the LGBTQ+ community of Wolverhampton and the Black Country, and their allies.
Since 2016, WLGBT+ has supported the community by:
Providing a free and subsidised inclusive counselling service | Boosting the wellbeing of many through social activities and events since 2016 | Being a proud partner of Wolverhampton Pride, advocating for the community.
All done by a committed team of 5 part-time staff members, a cohort of brilliant volunteers, and amazing student counsellors. With the difficulties LGBT+ people face currently, our work is needed now more than ever. In recent years, LGBT+ hate and homophobic rhetoric has increased. According to Stonewall and Galop*, within the last decade:
2 in 3 people who experienced LGBT+ hate were unable to access support when they wanted or needed it. | 45% of students have hidden their identity at university for fear of being discriminated against | 52% of LGBT+ said they have experienced depression in the last year (*Information sourced from: Galop’s Hate Crime Report 2021; Stonewall’s LGBT+ In Britain: Hate Crime Report (2017); Stonewall’s LGBT+ In Britain: University Report (2018); Next Steps: experience of LGBT+ students in Education? This is our subscription scheme. This allows you to subscribe to Wolverhampton LGBT+ at just £15 per year and get some exclusive discounts. Click here for more info

Wolverhampton LGBT+ has been supporting LGBT+ folk since 2017. We have around 30 partner organisations and engage with thousands of local people on a monthly basis whether that be information on our website and socials or in person at our support services.
We currently run an outstanding counselling service with a 7 day turn around from referral to counselling starting, free yoga classes, free meet-ups in a local inclusive coffee shop, various free online social groups, free monthly walking group and have many other pop-up and social events being planned.
The aims of Wolverhampton LGBT+ is to;
- make Wolverhampton a warm and inviting place to visit,
- offer safe and inclusive services,
- better support our LGBT+ community
- and to increase the mental health and well-being of local LGBT+ people.
